IG/1 Standard BlueFlame Managed Learning Programme leading to CCN1 (Core Gas) and CENWAT (Boilers) | The ACS qualification is valid for 5 years.

Pre-requisites

There is no Pre-requisite qualifications for this course, however candidates must be able to read, write, and speak in English.

Our Part Time Managed Learning Programme (MLP) is the perfect solution for individuals who want to transition into the gas industry without losing their current income. Running every Saturday for 26 weeks, this course provides the same high-level training and certification as our full-time route but at a pace that fits around your existing commitments . You will gain expert tuition and the mandatory portfolio evidence needed to qualify as a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Your place can be revoked if proof of pre-requisite qualifications when requested.

Course Overview

The part-time syllabus is delivered via centre-based guided learning, ensuring all technical and safety modules are covered in depth.

Modules Covered:

Safety Foundations: Health and Safety including PPE, and Safety/IGEM Standards.

Core Pipework: Standards of pipework in domestic premises, including bending, jointing, soldering, and clipping.

Gas Distribution: Understanding the Gas Distribution Network, pressure, and pressure gauges.

System Testing: Tightness testing, purging installations , and tracing/repairing escapes.

Appliances & Combustion: Combustion, CPA1 (Combustion analysis), flues, ventilation, and an introduction to boilers and heating systems.

Practical Service: Installation, servicing, and repair of boilers.

Portfolio Procedure:

Success in the MLP requires a portfolio of evidence built under the supervision of a Gas Safe Engineer.

Portfolio Session: This is delivered on the 13th Saturday of the course, with placements becoming available the following week.

Resources provided: You will be trained on method statements, photograph requirements, and have access to portfolio templates via Google Drive.

Placements: VIVA facilitates placements for boiler work in West Yorkshire to ensure students can meet the required standards for their portfolio submission.
