Existing ACS certificate; specific timing requirements apply per ticket
Are you looking to grow your business by taking on a wider variety of gas work? Our ACS Extension of Scope assessments allow qualified engineers to add new appliance competencies to their existing gas profile. Whether you want to start installing cookers or fires, or simply need to add meters to your core qualification, extending your scope is the most effective way to ensure you never have to turn down a job because of a missing ticket.
This is an assessment-only day; please note that formal training is not included in this price. Candidates are assessed on their competency through a combination of written theory exams and practical assessments.
Available Extension Tickets & Requirements:
CENWAT (Boilers & Water Heaters): Available 12 months after ACS completion.
CKR1 (Domestic Cookers): Available 12 months after ACS completion.
HTR1 (Gas Fires & Wall Heaters): Available 12 months after ACS completion.
MET1 (Gas Meters): Available immediately after your initial ACS certification.
Please note: We do not offer assessment for Warm Air Units (DAH1).
Course FAQs
In a competitive market, being a "boiler-only" engineer limits your income. By extending your scope to include cookers (CKR1) or fires (HTR1), you become a one-stop shop for your customers. Most engineers find that the ability to take on just a few additional appliance service jobs quickly covers the entire cost of the assessment.
For most appliances like fires, cookers, and boilers, you must have held your initial ACS for at least 12 months. However, if you need to add Meters (MET1) to your profile, you can sit that assessment immediately after receiving your ACS certification, allowing you to hit the ground running.
No, this session is strictly for assessment and certification. It is designed for engineers who are already confident and competent in the new areas they are adding. If you feel you need a refresher on a specific appliance before the assessment, please contact Lindsay at the centre to discuss your options.
